WHO IS

ALEX ELLIS?

A creative, explorer, asker of questions, problem solver, amateur photographer, experience seeker, motorcycle rider, snow enthusiast, renovator of an extremely outdated house, excellent nap taker, and above all else—partaker in the human experience.

My name's Alex and I have 13+ years experience in one of the best industries, the creative industry. I have experience with big brand names, launched some fantastic start-ups, and worked for leading agencies; conceptualising and producing award winning ideas, campaigns, raising brand awareness, and ensuring the human connection feeds into this.

Understanding and being human is so important because this directly affects how we communicate, learn, feel, react, decide, behave and grow. Any project I am on, I look for the heart and soul, then let the rest follow.
"Play is our brain's favourite way of learning."
– Diane Ackerman

It's so easy for us all to keep our heads down and become so engrossed in our work – I am definitely guilty of this – that we forget to have fun with our interests, let an activity take over without any need for the outcome to be deemed 'successful'. Last year I was reminded of this so took part in Inktober 2023.

Inktober is a drawing challenge throughout October where you have a word prompt for each day, free thought, pen and paper. With the chance to go back to basics, I gave myself an additional brief to allow me to explore mixed media: artwork should be movie related with a quote, and photographed in a way that fits the narrative of the subject.

You can view the full result of this on my instagram profile. Also keep an eye out as this year I plan to take part in 36 days of Type.

Alex was thrown into the creative deep end and was swimming in next to no time. A sponge for knowledge, Alex is one of the quickest learners I’ve ever met. It’s why he’s matured beyond his years and fast becoming a creative force.

As a talented designer and aspiring art director, Alex has the ability to create effective communications independently or as part of a larger team. He’s an absolute pleasure to work with. Because you know the project will be completed ahead of time, and to the highest of standards.

Alex’s commitment to creativity is extraordinary. But it’s just one of the many reasons why he would sail into any creative team. So if I was you, I’d employ Alex in a split second, before anyone else brings him on board.

I cannot rate Alex highly enough. Alex is a fantastic designer who is so considered in everything he does. With a broad understanding of development, he could often be found sitting with the developers discussing how his outside-the-box ideas could be executed. He is passionate about his work and could always be trusted to take initiative in the steer of any project creative. Highly competent with a common sense approach to his methods,  accurately quotes his time on any job and delivers high quality results first time round on nearly every brief. He was very much an adviser to many of the Account Managers at Miramar and his reputation carried over into client meetings, where he was often requested by name.

As a colleague, Alex is kind and conscientious. He has a good sense of humour and is well-liked by everyone he works with. He is firmly fair in his management style of junior colleagues and is comfortable in expressing his opinion to improve a project. I very much hope to work with Alex again in the future; he is an asset to any team and I wish him every success.

Alex has been a fantastic team leader on the project which keeps on giving. He's been a genuinely awesome creative (and person) and somehow gets everything out the door to his exceptionally high standard. Thank you!

Alex has been an absolute legend getting through a massive client project. Setting up procedures, systems, onboarding freelancers, and that's before we even get to the brilliant design work. And all of this under intense pressure and ever tightening deadlines. 'Top work' doesn't even begin to cover it.

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Alex for all his help since I've joined the team, as well as being so friendly and approachable – he's been amazing at giving really helpful feedback and steering me in the right direction and even stayed on late to help me out. It's really been appreciated!

This person's work is on another level. It's a pleasure to work with a designer who takes the time to read and understand copy and then uses their impressive design skills to enhance the message. They never fail to elevate the quality of the work twogether creates.

Thank you for bringing ALL the creative juice to the yard on Pentaho and making that presentation look stunning. Can't wait to get your ideas flowing through the campaign content next.

What a legend! Without his tireless dedication, professional team player attitude and expert design skills we never would have got the KPMG RFP completed in time. Honestly cannot thank him enough for making sure its something we can all be proud of! Thank you :)

Alex has been unbelievably supportive this month. He's been proactive in push projects forward for the new partnermarketing brand, our Watering Hole Podcast, and just about everything else. All without a second thought to make sure that we keep up our incredible levels of creative where I've not been able to keep my head above water.

Alex gets designs approved faster and more efficiently by instigating team chats to share work with Client Services and other creatives (Art Directors and Copywriters). It's not only good to see work all the way through, it results in higher quality output. We should adopt Alex's approach as standard practice.

This guy is truly collaborative. When he gets copy to work with, he contacts the writer and shows how he's designing it. Actual proper proactive working together. Even when it's not scheduled. He's setting an example to all of us of how to do great creative. THANK YOU!

It absolutely goes without saying that we simply WOULD NOT HAVE SURVIVED without Alex this month. Not ONLY has he produced the most amazing, creative out of home work for Lenovo, but has truly been the engine to allow us to deliver all the work we have for this project. It's not been easy, but Alex, you are AWESOME! Can't thank you enough!!!
